Northern Cardinals are common in most backyards. They are frequent visitors to backyard bird feeders. They love sunflower and safflower seeds.

Males are red with a black mask and chin.
Females are brownish gray with reddish wings and tail.Â
Both sexes have a large orange cone shaped bill and a large crest.Â
Food:
Insects, seeds, fruits. Likes to forage on the ground.
Habitat:
Prefers dense shrubby areas.
Preferred Nest:
Nest in shrubs.
Backyard Birdhouse:
No, prefers to build its own nest in dense shrubs or thickets.Â
More Facts:
Both Males and Females will sing.Â
They do not migrate.
